You are amazing and awesome and absolutely 100% lovable!
I know you are feeling lonely and left out right now and you feel as if what makes you different also makes you weird, but guess what? Your differences are what make you amazing and awesome and lovable! Your differences are what make you, well, YOU. And just in case you didn’t hear it the first few times- you are amazing.
Right now, you may be in a teeny tiny circle of people who might not get crazy excited about the same things you do, but so what? Get excited and keep hungry to learn about those very things because, eventually, you will find the circle of people who DO get excited about those things. One day, without warning, you’ll suddenly find yourself looking around saying, “Holy moly, I know EXACTLY how you feel- and I think that’s awesome too!” You’ll find your kindred spirits.
Yes, it gets lonely when you are out in this great big world looking for the right circle, but everyone is on the same journey, bumping into each other along the way. You’ll find it someday; I promise. And if you don’t, well then you’ll start your own darn circle, and others will find you and join you. Find the things that make your heart sing, and the people will follow someday.
How do I know this to be true? Because everyone has this moment in their life. Everyone. Yes, even me. I never really fit well in the artist circle, and I’ve done a couple of laps around the photog circle, but I think I’m more of a lucky photographer than a skilled one. Besides, the term “photog” irks me. I’ve spent time in the military family circle, leaving some of my heart with them, and I visit the single-parent circle every so often, but we’re busy people, so no one really hangs out there in the first place. I always have a great time in the SpaceTweep circle (they are pretty amazing) and they are a pretty great at giving me some perspective. But my favorite circle has to be the “Mom and Kiddo” circle. The bottom line is, you’ll find your people. In one circle or in many circles, but they are out there.
And do you know what else? When those people meet you, they will know just how amazing and awesome and 100% lovable you are. They will know just how incredibly lucky they were to find you. If they don’t, well then those, my dear, are not the right people for you.
