Instead of costumes today, parents at our school were requested to have the children dress in orange and black.  For a kid who happens to LOVE orange, there wasn’t a problem fulfilling that request!  A simple orange shirt with a couple of hand painted spiders and a glittery web that spelled out the word “Boo” was  Between her shirt and nails, it took all of 10 minutes combined- and well worth the effort for the gem of a lesson that came from it!

After painting the spider on my gal’s right pointer finger, she looked up and said,
“Ummm…. I’m just going to tell the other kids that I painted that one and that you painted the other spider.”
Me: “Why???”
My girl: “Mommy… that looks like a three year old painted it, and you’re a really good artist; I don’t want my friends to think that you’re a BAD artist.”
I thought it was cute that she was concerned for my reputation, but then I explained to her that I was proud of that “ugly” little spider and that not everything that you do will always be perfect.  That little kid makes me verbalize the things thatI need to internalize sometimes!
