This is Grommet.  He is one of our favorite fellas to visit at Muscoot Farm, and a week or so before the snow storm came and buried much of the northeast, we paid him a visit.
We found him taking a cat nap, in the Dairy Barn of course, but soon enough, he came out and perched himself up on a railing to take a good long glance over the rest of the farm.  Still waking up from his slumber I assume, he took the longest, most beautiful stretch!
Grommet reminded me how important it IS for us to stop and take time to stretch.  If we don’t, we become less and less flexible, limiting our reach and ease of movement.  We become rigid.
I always find it such an amazing thing to compare the physical with the mental and spiritual worlds.  To me, it makes perfect sense that so many of the patterns of each one, mirror the other.  What in your daily life do you do to stretch your mind?  How do you continuously embrace the expansion of your world?  How far do you push yourself to reach further towards your goals and dreams?  If you never push yourself just past your comfort zone, you will find your comfort zone slowly shrinking.
But fear not- just like Grommet, if you have found yourself waking from a spiritual or psychological cat nap, rigid with stiff joints, just take a moment and stretch, and start to embrace your flexibility.  You may even surprise yourself with just how far you are already able to reach.
